Technologies and tools
How we work
Working in small project teams using scrum or kanban or scrumban depending on what fits the project best. The better is to be a true team player who is able to work independently. Everyone is expected to participate on the daily standup. Other than that, you can schedule the day as you wish. Sometimes we have evening meetings (ie at 6pm) due to the time zone difference (SanFrancisco vs Budapest).
What will you learn
We want you to learn our technologies and be open to always learn something new. We help you with on-the-job training and we have online training hub access also. In case training is needed, but we do not have it in-house, your manager will find the way!
Development / Maintenance?
Are you fed up with all day long bug fixing, support work and maintenance?
Honestly, we do have such tasks @Hearsay as well, but the proportions are important! Are you missing writing codes most of your time @work? Join Hearsay, where you will have real software development work at least in 70% of your time. We are looking for software engineers who are keen on writing codes, doing code reviews.

Why we love our office
The location is amazing, surrounded by lots of restaurants and bars with options to grab food, beer or even ice cream outside. It's easy to get there by public transportation, but we also have bike parking spaces. The office is very spacious with comfortable couches, a long dining table where we love chatting, and a fully-equipped kitchen where we visit the snack and drink storage pretty often.
Personal qualities we appreciate
- GSD: Getting Stuff Done - we value getting the right stuff done at the right quality level.
- Kaizen: Kaizen is Japanese for continuous self-improvement.
- Customer focus: Our customers truly come first.
Tech stack and tools we use
Our Back-end is Python, Django and we have some services in Kotlin, our Front-end is React + Redux mainly. The whole system runs on AWS (Lambda, DynamoDB, EC2, ECS, SQS, SNS). We work in SCRUM teams, the backlog is in Jira, the documents are mainly in Confluence. For data warehouses we use Snowflake, and Looker for reports and dashboards. We have lots of senior developers in our teams.
How we work during COVID
When the pandemic hit the world, we changed to a full-remote work environment and we'll stay like this until it's safe to return to the office again. We'll return in hybrid model which means working from the office but also working from home a couple of days a week. Until then, besides work we're having a lot of online gatherings like zoom coffee calls, game nights, and trivia events.
